Best BBQ in Fort Smith. Hands down, no contest. If you are visiting and want BBQ, this is your place. If you are a local and have never eaten here, why?? Everything is good. Get anything. Great portions, quality food. Great service! Just put down your phone and go!

Stopped in for lunch, based on a recommendation from a friend in DFW, and he said you have to try this place out. Arrived on a Wednesday, and nice crowd for sure. What I loved the most was the aroma of BBQ. One of the greatest smells known to man. I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich, and BBQ beans, and both delivered. The brisket was flavorful and melted in my mouth. If I was not on a diet, I could have eaten three, as the one I had, I ate it so quick. The beans were very good, and why is it so hard to find good BBQ beans? Most places don't make it well, but this place sure does. Stay hungry my friends...

This is some of the best BBQ I've ever had! And Ralph will make you feel at home. With radio Margaritaville playing in the background it just adds to the experience. This just gives me an excuse to come back to Ft Smith and the Flamingo. Fins up Ralph!

My coworker told me about this place a few days ago. He raved about the BBQ burrito. As the clock was nearing to lunch time, I was thinking what to have for lunch. Then I remembered the BBQ burrito he mentioned to me and decided that this is where I will go. I walked in and it was like a cafeteria style BBQ joint. The staff was very friendly and were excited when I told them that it was my first time going to their establishment. I got the pulled pork BBQ burrito. It was rather delicious and hit the spot. I also loved that they had a separate station of toppings like onions, jalapenos, chesse, bacon etc. At the table, they had different styles of BBQ sauce. I rather enjoyed the extra spicy sauce with my burrito. The piece of sausage they added was delicious. Very juicy and flavorful. As a side, I got the mac-n-cheese. It was very delicious and highly recommend. I do plan on coming back here again and trying other items from the menu.

Well deserving of 5 stars. We ordered some take-out for a family gathering here, based on fellow Yelpers' reviews and weren't disappointed. When we showed up at our relatives' house she commented that we had found the BEST BBQ restaurant in Fort Smith. My favorites were the BBQ sausage and the chopped chicken.

Had the ribs and sausage with cobbler and beans as sides. Food was good nice flavor in the sauce.

First timer here, but if given the opportunity it wont be the last. Tried the judges platter (I think thats what it was called) and was amazed by the food, amount of it, and the low price for everything you got. Sausage was some of the best ever! Ribs cooked amazingly, and everything complemented the flavors of each other. The sauces were a nice compliment as well. Plenty to choose from and plenty of food to eat! Do yourself a favor and dont forget about the home made desserts.

Went for lunch- it is cafeteria style service, which is fine just not expected. Food was good and people were friendly. Parking lot was a challenge.

The sauces here are good, and so is the pulled pork. But the real star of the show was the sausage that came with the meal. Holy cow, I could eat like 3 feet worth of them. The owner is super friendly and clearly knows all the local customers. Good, cheap eats. Only gripe is that the parking lot is small and crowded.

Is this place the best BBQ I have ever had? No. Is it among the best in the Fort Smith-area? I would say so. We went with a group for lunch. The lunch special (sandwich, drink, side, and piece of sausage) was reasonably priced. The cafeteria-style set-up can throw you at first as it is not terribly clear where you go to order when you first walk in. As for the food, I had the brisket sandwich (with original sauce), Southwestern Mac & Cheese, Cheesy Potatoes, and a piece of sausage (it comes with every meal). The sauce was pretty solid and I enjoy the flavor to the brisket. I just wish I had thought to put coleslaw on my sandwich. The Southwestern Mac & Cheese was an interesting twist on mac and cheese and I thought it was quite good and original. The Cheesey Potatoes were a bit overcooked, but tasty. The piece of sausage was also a bit overcooked, but had a good taste to it. The portion sizes were appropriate for lunch and left me feeling content without being hungry or miserably full. This is a pretty solid place to go for lunch if you're looking for something quick and good. If you're craving BBQ... it's not a bad place to try, but I won't say they knock it out of the park.

I think either people reviewing this restaurant haven't eaten a good BBQ spots or this is the way their Uncle Larry cooks. The BBQ sauce is very good. I liked the chopped brisket much more than the ribs, which, by the way only come in the baby back variety, and not the much more meatier and tastier spare ribs. The baby backs were a bit dry, which is typical of BB ribs, and why I do not prefer them. There are a lot of photos of competition cooking, but I would bet the biggest trophy these baby backs were not what they presented to the judges. Had a salad and corn as my sides as most everything looked like it came from a can, and was drying up there in the warming buffet dishes. THEY DO HAVE FRENCH DRESSING FOR THE SALADS, I like that!! Some good, some bad, probably not going to return, just continue looking for a rib joint that cooks as good or better than me.

We took about a 10 mile detour from I-40 to try this place. It was worth every minute's delay! The atmosphere is extra friendly. Try the baby back ribs, the sausage, the pulled pork-- the only thing that was average in our view was the brisket. Sides are excellent and they offer 4 different BBQ sauces for you to add as you like. Don't pass it up when in Ft. Smith.

Ribs are REALLY good. It is THE item to order for a first time visit. Chicken is average I had better. Sausage is pretty good, above average. Brisket was eh. Potato salad is really good, I like it better than the cheesy taters which locals usually buy. Service is 11 out of 10. The owner is awesome and takes pride in his food.

I won't beat around the bush. Best BBQ in Fort Smith, no question. Family owned, great atmosphere, good prices. I'm not a big potato salad fan, but I'm told it's fantastic. I usually go for the brisket or pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, and cheesy potatoes. Desserts are great as well. Nothing I've had here has been anything less than great. Tip: If you get a sandwich, like another review stated, get the bread on the side so that it doesn't get soggy with the meat sitting on top.

    (5)
  • Jeramy P.

Everything here is excellent, and their homemade sauce is top notch (which they sell by the bottle). It's a real family owned placed, and the barbecue cannot be beat. Easily some of the best barbecue in the River Valley and it beats everything further north in the state. The baked beans and potato salad are fantastic, as are the cheesy potatoes. My one suggestion... if you get a sandwich, ask for your bread on the side. It can tend to get a bit soggy if you let it sit with meat on top.

    (5)
  • Mr. G.

Brisket has a clear smoke ring and you can tell it was well seasoned at one time, but I suspect it is kept warm in some sort of braising liquid, pulling away much of the flavor. The sides leave something to be desired, but the portion sizes are good. Overall, a decent value.

This is literally the best BBQ in the state if Arkansas. I've had BBQ all over the US and this stands up to anywhere I've ever been. My wife and I love this place so much that we had them cater our wedding. Amazing food and staff. The owners are great people. Is suggest getting the sausage and pulled pork. Definitely try the potato salad. It's insanely good! Their hours are limited.

I eat hear on many Tuesdays and it always hits the spot. My plate is filled with a GOOD serving of pulled pork and cheesy taters every time and that's the way I like it. Thanks for being just a minute from my work!

Some of the best BBQ outside Memphis and KC. Best in NW Arkansas. Went with the family and enjoyed the atmosphere and variety of food. Price good and the service great. The owner made sure to walk out and greet everyone - a good sign of a great place in my book. He made us feel welcome and made sure our food was not just OK, but that everything was great. They had three favors of sauce, and the Hot was a perfect heat that didn't detract from the flavor of the meat. If I had to find anything wrong, it was the size of the portions on the sides - a bit small, but other than that, one of the best meals I have had in the Fort Smith area ever.

Ralph's far exceeded our expectations!!! Great pulled-pork and brisket! We loved the BBQ sauce and all the sides. Apple cobbler was best we've ever had! We got a piece of chocolate pecan pie to-go. It looks and smells amazing! Kudos to Ralph!

The first place I ever tried pulled pork sandwiches and enjoyed it very much. Sausages are good especially drowned in their special sauce(s). It gets crowded quick during lunch because they do have good lunch specials that won't hurt your pocket or bank. They are opened during lunch time and dinner and closed on certain day(s), so I would be sure to plan ahead. Parking can be a pain because it is shared with neighboring businesses.
